Texas Seafood Tour at Garrido’s featuring fresh catch from San Miguel Seafood
If you’ve been avoiding seafood because of the recent Gulf oil spill, you won’t want to miss this tasting event. Roberto San Miguel with San Miguel Seafood will be joining us for dinner to help answer questions about the health of our local coastal waters. Roberto is well-known in the local food community, supplying fresh fish to several Austin based restaurants as well as to the general public at the Austin Farmers’ Market. In addition to his passion for fishing, he is currently a Research Specialist for the Office of the Texas Attorney General. Come prepared to sample some fresh Texas seafood and show your support for local businesses. Please note that shellfish will be served.
The evening’s menu will include:
2 glasses of wine
1stcourse: Amberjack* taquito with habanero honey aioli and pineapple pico
2ndcourse: Gulf Shrimp with guajillo caper sauce, marjoram grits and mixed greens
3rdcourse: Whole grilled snapper with ginger, scallions and serrano lime sauce, served with rice and grilled vegetables
4thcourse: Pastel de Calabaza with lemon crema

Seating is limited to 20 adults (21 and over only please).
Join us for a unique evening of tasting and learning at the Texas Beef Council. Chef Tiffany Collins will provide a mouth-watering cooking demonstration showcasing the healthy preparation of Texas beef. Come prepared to learn about the 29 lean cuts of beef, flavoring with rubs and marinades and reducing overall fat content of foods without sacrificing flavor.

We’ll embark on a guided tasting tour of over 40 varieties of EVOO and Balsamic Vinegars from around the world. Jeff Conarko, owner of Con Olio’s, will lead us through his Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar 101 seminar detailing the history, processes, facts/myths, and cooking tips.

- 1st Course: Green Salad with Strawberries and goat cheese paired with a Blood Orange and Dark Chocolate vinaigrette
